On September 9, the Mexican Association for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles (AMIVE) in collaboration with the Mexican Carbon Platform Mexico2, held the first edition of Mexico EV Day: Financing for Electric Mobility in Mexico, in the auditorium of the Mexican Stock Exchange. The event was a space for dialogue and rapprochement between two fundamental sectors to promote the decarbonization of transportation in the country: that of electric mobility and the financial sector. During the event, we had the participation of 20 experts in the field and more than 300 attendees, who shared success stories as well as challenges for electric mobility, mainly from a financial perspective.
We had the distinguished participation of Rosario Castro, Director of Metrobus, who shared with us the current status and electrification plans of the CDMX Metrobus system. During the panel “Public Transport and Finance” we heard successful examples of #electrification in cities such as Mérida with the Yucatán Transportation Agency, and Metrobus line 3 in CDMX by Mobility ADO. The panel was moderated by Carlos Mir, a specialist in the field from the United Nations Environment Agency.

During the panel “Electric mobility from the banking perspective” we heard about the #taxonomy that defines #electricmobility and encourages companies to comply with the SDGs. On the other hand, we heard about the opportunities that exist in carbon markets and project structuring. We appreciate the participation of Alba Aguilar from the Mexican Council of Sustainable Finance, Carlos Sánchez from Mexico2 and Mariana Silva from NTT Data, for sharing their vision in this panel.
We concluded with the panel “Development banking and international cooperation” where the opportunities offered by Development Banking for the implementation of electric mobility projects in the public and private sectors were discussed.
