The Mexican Association for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles (AMIVE) informs its members, collaborators, and the electromobility community in Mexico of the change in our association’s presidency.
After two years of outstanding management at the helm of AMIVE, Mr. Francisco Cabeza concludes his term as President. During his leadership, the Association consolidated its role as a national leader in promoting the adoption of clean technologies, strengthening ties between academia, industry, and the public sector. We deeply appreciate his dedication, vision, and commitment to the development of electric mobility in our country.
Starting this month, Mr. Germán Carmona Paredes assumes the presidency of AMIVE for the 2025–2027 term.
About Mr. Germán Carmona Paredes
Mr. Germán Carmona Paredes is a Mechanical Electrical Engineer (Electronics) and Master’s in Electrical Engineering (Control), a graduate of the Faculty of Engineering at UNAM. A professor at the UNAM Engineering Institute since 1997, he has developed an outstanding career in electromechanical systems, control, instrumentation, and power electronics.
A pioneer in the development of electric vehicles in Mexico, he participated in the project for the first national electric minibus, the VE-UNAM, since 1993, which began operating in 1996. Since then, he has led numerous technological innovation projects in electric, hybrid, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Since 2000, he has led the Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Development Program at the UNAM Engineering Institute.
He has also served as Coordinator of the Electromobility Group of the SECTEI ECOS Network and as Electromobility Advisor to the Mexico City Government, promoting the creation of national technology for the development of motorcycle taxis, electric cars, and buses for public transportation.
With his extensive academic, technical, and leadership experience, Mr. Carmona will strengthen AMIVe’s commitment to the transition to sustainable mobility, driving innovation and technological development in Mexico.
