On February 9, the Mexican Association to Promote Electric Vehicles (AMIVE) held its first meeting of affiliates in which the relevant topics that the Association will be addressing as part of the definition of its work plan were discussed.
The conversation was guided by Angélica Vesga, Director of Public Affairs and Communication at the World Resources Institute, who facilitated the process for attendees in order to lay the foundations for AMIVE’s vision and its short, medium and long-term objectives.
National and subnational public policy packages that respond to financial, regulatory, environmental, security and urban mobility needs that must be developed to promote the growth of the sector were identified as priorities. The participants also mentioned the relevance of promoting greater participation of renewables in electricity generation, in order to respond to the growing demand that the electrification of the sector means, as well as Mexico’s commitments and goals in the field of climate change. . In addition, they agreed that it is necessary to review mechanisms to decongest the transmission infrastructure.
The elements of communication and information generation were recurrent in the discussion with the members, as everyone agreed that a clear objective of the Association will be to position electric mobility as a solution to the climate and air quality crisis. that we suffer in Mexico and the planet, while offering opportunities in job creation and economic development.
In the near future, AMIVE will be presenting the official results of this exercise and its work plan with a vision to 2030.
