The AMIVE shared its comments on the document “General Administrative Provisions on Electromobility for the Integration of Charging Infrastructure of Electric Vehicles and Hybrid Electric Vehicles Connectable to the National Electrical System as Part of a Smart Electrical Grid” generated by the Regulatory Commission of Energy, which is in a public consultation process on the platform of the National Commission for Regulatory Improvement. The Association recognized the effort on the part of the competent authorities to identify the regulatory needs of the sector, as well as to offer instruments to promote the healthy growth of electric mobility in the country.
Likewise, AMIVE pointed out the instruments that must be developed shortly to ensure efficient decarbonization of transportation, including a package of policies and incentives that reflect the vision of the Government of Mexico. The Association shared some recommendations for expanding the document, including the definition of energy pricing schemes oriented to the EV or VEHC user, such as night pricing at a reduced price per kWh. Likewise, AMIVE shared the benefits that would be generated by the possibility of approving a single connector (or two at most) for any public charging infrastructure, in order to guarantee the interoperability of our charging systems, and thus facilitate the development of a true smart grid that uses available resources efficiently.
Regarding the sale of energy, the Association raised the need to define additional schemes, with the aim of opening the market to new investors that would allow the expansion of public charging infrastructure. Finally, AMIVE and its affiliates highlighted the importance of strengthening the management capacity of entities such as CRE, CENACE, CFE, etc. to implement the regulations efficiently.
These comments were also discussed by the Association with CRE Commissioner Walter Ángel in a meeting.
