On March 20, the Mexican Association to Promote Electric Vehicles (AMIVE) held a meeting with Commissioner Walter Julián Ángel Jiménez, head of the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). They talked about the prospects of electric mobility in Mexico and its impacts on the national electrical system. They also exchanged opinions and visions about the document “General Administrative Provisions on Electromobility”, issued by the CRE and which is currently in the process of public consultation on the CONAMER platform.
The commissioner expressed his interest in listening to the incumbent parties in the sector and in receiving feedback so that the final document reflects a regulation that integrates the different points of view of the relevant actors, but always prioritizing the public good of Mexico. He shared with AMIVE that the document seeks to begin to outline the rules that facilitate the orderly development of the electromobility sector in the country, establishing the foundations to build a level playing field for all actors in the sector from the perspective and competence of the CRE. , that is, energy regulation. He recognized the relevance of the comments presented by the Association, which will be considered during the following phases of evolution of the document.
AMIVE offered its support in this process. The Commissioner and AMIVE agreed to continue this dialogue in subsequent meetings.
We thank Commissioner Walter Ángel for his openness and willingness to dialogue with AMIVE and its affiliates.
